I came to work at the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre in November 2009 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Prior to this, from 2005 I worked as a Research Associate and Assistant at the Arthritis Research UK Epidemiology Unit at the University of Manchester. I also completed my PhD at Manchester in 2009.
I am employed as a Research Associate in Epidemiology on a large National Institute for Health programme grant investigating the management and symptoms of people with osteoarthritis. In particular, I am interested in comorbid anxiety and depressive symptoms in individuals with osteoarthritis and much of my time is spent working on a cluster randomised controlled trial in this area. My background is in the epidemiology of chronic pain, especially chronic widespread pain, and I continue that interest now with analyses into psychosocial and quality of life factors related to musculoskeletal pain.
I contribute and teach sessions on the following courses:
-
Masters in Medical Science (Statistics and Epidemiology module)
-
Medical Student Quantitative Research Methods SSC (Population epidemiology & public health component)
I am a member of the Society for Academic Primary Care and an invited reviewer for both national and international journals.
