I attained a BA (1st class) in Sociology from the University of the West of England (Bristol) in 2006. Following that I worked for the University of Wolverhampton as a Research Assistant on a project that explored patient and practitioner perspectives regarding the role of self-management for glaucoma. I joined Keele University as a Research Assistant in April 2008.
My current area of research interest focuses upon self-management. I have been working on an RfPB funded qualitative research study that investigates the lay perspective and enactment of self-management for chronic knee pain. The same project forms the basis of my ongoing PhD work which examines the concept of ‘risk’ and risk management in relation to chronic knee pain and self-management.
I am also working on the qualitative evaluation of the Managing Osteoarthritis in Consultations Study (MOSAICS). Primarily I will be exploring the perspectives of the patients who have received the Primary Care based intervention which aims to promote self-management of chronic knee pain.
