I came to Keele in 2005, having previously worked for Stoke PCT as a project coordinator in the department of Health Promotion and as a research officer for a national charity. My undergraduate degree is a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography (1994) and I have completed postgraduate education including a MSc in Human Osteology and Palaeopathology (2001) and a PhD (2010) (title: Patterns of radiographic hand osteoarthritis and associations with pain and function: a prospective cohort study).

My research interests include:

  • Epidemiology of hand and foot OA
  • Radiographic Imaging
  • Ultrasound
  • Subtypes of hand OA including erosive OA
  • Joint distribution of OA
  • Plantar fasciitis

Teaching:

  • MSc Medical Science – Statistics and Epidemiology Module
  • MBChB Student Selected Component  – Research Module: Measuring Health Outcomes

 

Supervision:

  • MBChB 4th year undergraduate project – Putting your best foot forward; a radiographic review of definitions of foot osteoarthritis (completed 2010)
  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy undergraduate project – A systematic review of radiographic progression of hand osteoarthritis (completed 2011)
  • PhD in Clinical Epidemiology – 1st metatarsophalangeal joint osteoarthritis (ongoing)
