Mark has been a GP in North Staffordshire since 1984 and for the last 10 has developed an interest in the management of osteoarthritis in primary care. He is a GP Research Fellow at Keele University, working in the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre, and is the GP Director of Primary Care Research West Midlands North. and Clinical Lead for Central England PCRN. He held an NIHR In-Practice Fellowship from 2008 to 2010 and is currently Royal College of General Practitioners Clinical Champion for Osteoarthritis.

Mark teaches evidence-based medicine to both undergraduate medical students and general practitioners in training. He runs a One-Day Evidence-Based Practice Workshop annually in September for local NHS clinicians and facilitates an Evidence-Based Practice Group for local GPs.
