I gained my undergraduate (BSc Sport Science) and postgraduate (MSc by research) degrees from the University of Central Lancashire (Preston) in 2003 and 2005 respectively. I subsequently took up a research post in the university, investigating a new method of diagnosing osteoarthritis by recording high-frequency sound emitted from the joints. In 2008 I joined the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre at Keele, allowing my continued focus into osteoarthritis, but in epidemiological and health services research areas.
The focus of my research is into comorbidity, specifically how the combined presence of osteoarthritis and cardiovascular disease in patients from primary care influences their physical health experience. This work also forms the basis of my PhD, where I am examining the short and long-term consequences of having these two chronic diseases at the same time.
