I joined Keele in 2009. My previous work experience includes posts in primary care (Senior Evaluation Officer), health promotion (Community Health Development) and a Local Authority (Planning Officer, Social Inclusion).  My qualifications include (BA (1st Hons) English & Sociology, Staffordshire University, 1992. M.Soc.Sci.(Cultural Studies) University of Birmingham, 1993, Diploma in Health Promotion ( distinction), Open University, DMS, Staffordshire University, 2003 M.Res (distinction), 2005.  I was awarded an ESRC scholarship for my PhD in Health Planning and Management which was awarded by Keele in 2009.

I am a member of  INVOLVE,  a national advisory group that supports greater public involvement in NHS, public health and social care research. INVOLVE is funded by and part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).

My PhD was a funded ESRC scholarship and I studied the local implementation of Sure Start Children’s Centres. I work as a Front-Line Advisor for the West Midlands Research Design Service with responsibility for patient and public involvement. I also carry out research in this area. I am primarily a qualitative researcher although I am interested in mixed methods and inter-disciplinary work.  I am particularly interested in science and technology studies, the public understanding of science and the social relations of knowledge production.
