I came to Keele in 2010 having completed my PhD "Space, Place and ‘Home': Lived Experiences in Hospice Day Care" at the University of Central Lancashire, where previously I had completed my undergraduate in Health Sciences for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (2003). Previous to coming to Keele and during the final year of my PhD I worked as a Research Assistant on a number of projects on community and children's nursing and cancer care services commissioned by the Department of Health, the CLIC Sargent cancer charity and an evaluation of the Diploma in Society, Health and Development at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

My research is located within the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre within the Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences. Currently my research here focuses on pain and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and how pain interferes with people's lives. My interests are in the sociology of pain and chronic illness; social geography; public health and complementary and alternative medicine use.
