I joined Keele in 2000 in order to undertake a PhD looking at the illness perceptions of people with hand problems, after completing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Health Psychology at Staffordshire University. During my BSc I undertook a 12 month studentship in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Staffordshire, and became involved in an out-patient pain management programme at Leek hospital. Following completion of my PhD I have, and am currently involved in, co-ordinating a number of studies within the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre.
My research interests are quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Behaviour change and interventions.
The use of theories and models.
Illness perceptions.
I teach on the Psychosocial aspects of pain and the MSc psychosocial aspects of health: measurement and assessment courses in the School of Health and Rehabilitation.
Chair of the Centre Courses and Conferences Committee.
Study Co-ordinator of SMOotH, PROMs, Psychological workstream.
Project supervisor: I supervise a number of students including DClinPsych and medical students.
Professional membership: Member of the British Psychological Society (1999-present). Full member of the Division of Health Psychology (2003-present).
