I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1991 from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh, before going on to gain a Masters in Public Health Sciences at Edinburgh University and PhD in 1998 from Manchester University. I joined the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre at Keele University in 1999.
I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (52303) and Health Professions Council (PH45411).
My principle research interests are the descriptive epidemiology of joint pain and osteoarthritis and diagnostic and prognostic research for common musculoskeletal disorders in primary care. I lead a multidisciplinary team conducting population and clinical studies with programme grant funding from the Medical Research Council and Arthritis Research UK.
