I qualified as a doctor in 2005 from University of Wales College of Medicine. I completed my foundation and core training in Birmingham and Nottingham (2005-2009) during which time I gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). I then started my training as a specialist registrar (SpR) in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine in Liverpool. I have successfully undertaken the Rheumatology Specialist certificate exit examination during this period. Having finished the first two years of my registrar training, I have opted out of the clinical training program to pursue a PhD here at the ARUK Primary Care Sciences centre. I will also be spending some of my time working as a Rheumatology SpR at the Haywood hospital. I intend to complete the remaining time of my SpR training in Liverpool after the completion of my PhD.
My previous research was focused on the trans-activation of the thyroid receptor. This was an intercalated BSc project in which I gained first class honours. My current research interest is the health related quality of life and foot problems in Gout patients. I have been awarded funding by the National School of Primary Care Research.
