Council Approvals Group

Scope

To deal with highly complex issues, usually of a financial nature, which require more time and detailed scrutiny than could be given by Council or the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). This could be to take a view on such matters at an early stage in order that the Group can then advise Council or SPC when the matter is first brought before them. The Approvals Group can also have authority delegated to it by Council or SPC, as appropriate, to take final decisions on their behalf subject to minimum criteria laid down by Council or SPC. This enables more detailed scrutiny to be made of the final decision and, if necessary, for decisions to be made between main Committee meetings.  The Terms of Referance can be found under Regulation 17.
