Ordinance XXII: Appointment of Professors
1a) The appointment of an established Professorship shall be made by the Council on the recommendation of the Senate advised by a Committee.
b) The Committee shall consist of the Vice-Chancellor and six persons nominated by the Senate of whom at least four shall be Professors of the University and at least one shall be a person not permanently employed by the University. At least two members of the Committee shall be members of the Faculty to which the Professorship is assigned.
c) Holders of Chairs shall not be members of the Committee dealing with the appointment of their successor.
2. The appointment of a member of the academic staff to a Professorship limited to personal tenure may be approved by the Council on the recommendation of the Senate.
