Ordinance XI - The Vice-Chancellor
1. The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Council on the recommendation of the Senate and after consideration of a report from a Joint Committee of the Council and the Senate.
2. Subject as provided in the Statutes and to any agreement between the University and the Vice-Chancellor for appointment for a fixed period expiring before the retirement date, the Vice- Chancellor shall hold office until the retirement date provided for in the Statutes. Any appointment for a fixed period expiring before the retirement date shall be made by the Council on behalf of the University subject to the concurrence of the Senate.
3. The Vice-Chancellor shall duly observe the Charter, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University and shall at all times carry out and discharge the duties thereby from time to time vested in, or entrusted to, him/her.
4. Except with the permission of the Council, the Vice-Chancellor shall devote his/her whole time and attention to his/her duties as Vice-Chancellor, and it shall at all times be his/her duty to promote the interests of the University as a place of education, learning and research.
