Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy (Regulation 1A)

(For students admitted in or after September 2010, graduating in or after 2013)

 

1. BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy

To be eligible for this award, students must have passes in 360 credits, i.e. all three modules; this is a requirement for registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and for the protected title Physiotherapist. The classification criteria are based on the criteria for Dual Honours & Single Honours Bachelor degrees (Regulation 1A), adjusted for 120-credit modules and for the eligibility criterion given above, and use the component assessments of the level II and level III modules.

 

1.1 Definitions

The aggregate mark (maximum 1200) = (0.5 x level II mark + level III mark) x 8

 

1.2 Criteria

 

FIRST CLASS HONOURS

an aggregate mark of at least 840;

OR an aggregate mark of 780, AND component marks from the level III module of 70 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%[1];

OR an aggregate mark of 780, AND component marks of 70 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%[2], and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%[3].

 

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division I)

an aggregate mark of at least 720;

OR an aggregate mark of 660, AND component marks from the level III module of 60 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%1;

OR an aggregate mark of 660, AND component marks of 60 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%2, and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%3.

 

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division II)

an aggregate mark of at least 600;

OR an aggregate mark of 540, AND component marks from the level III module of 50 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%1;

OR an aggregate mark of 540, AND component marks of 50 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%2, and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%3.

 

THIRD CLASS HONOURS

an aggregate mark of at least 480.

 

 

2. BSc (Hons) Health and Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy students who progress to level III will have received 120 credits at level I and 120 credits at Level II. Those who fail the level III module overall are not eligible for a degree in Physiotherapy, but may be eligible for a BSc Honours degree in Health and Rehabilitation classified as follows:

 

2.1 Definitions

The aggregate mark (maximum 1200) = (0.5 x level II mark + level III mark) x 8

 

2.2 Criteria

 

FIRST CLASS HONOURS

Component marks from the level III module of 40 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 87.5%[4] AND

an aggregate mark of at least 840;

OR an aggregate mark of 780, AND component marks from the level III module of 70 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%1;

OR an aggregate mark of 780, AND component marks of 70 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%2, and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%3.

 

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division I)

Component marks from the level III module of 40 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 87.5%4 AND

an aggregate mark of at least 720;

OR an aggregate mark of 660, AND component marks from the level III module of 60 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%1;

OR an aggregate mark of 660, AND component marks of 60 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%2, and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%3.

 

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division II)

Component marks from the level III module of 40 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 75%[5] AND

an aggregate mark of at least 600;

OR an aggregate mark of 540, AND component marks from the level III module of 50 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 62.5%1;

OR an aggregate mark of 540, AND component marks of 50 or higher with a combined contribution to the level III module mark of at least 50%2, and a combined contribution to the level II module mark of at least 25%3.

 

THIRD CLASS HONOURS

Component marks from the level III module of 40 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 75%5 AND

an aggregate mark of at least 480.

 

PASS

Component marks from the level III module of 35 or higher with a combined contribution to the module mark of at least 75%5 AND

an aggregate mark of at least 420.
