I completed my Adult nurse training in 1993 and my clinical work was focused in surgical high dependency, developing into surgical assessment, which encompassed general surgery, urology, maxillo-facial amongst other specialities.

In 2003 I undertook a post at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire facilitating critical care skills amongs qualified staff.

In 2005 I joined the clinical skills lecturing team at Staffordshire University and in 2006 I joined Keele University's School of Nursing and Midwifery as a clinical skills lecturer.

I currently work within the School of Nursing and Midwifery as a lecturer, predominantly with pre-registration students.

I completed my MSc in Professional Education in Healthcare in 2010

I am Chair of the Clinical Skills Development Group within the School of Nursing & Midwifery and I am a regular panel member involved in the recruitment of pre-registration students.

I presented at NET 2010 international conference, discussing the mandatory inclusion of first aid in a pre-registration nursing curriculum. Myself and a colleague also presented a poster illustrating how students are supported through their first year pre-registration OSCE's
