I trained as a Registered General Nurse at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham; I have worked in a variety of health care settings in the United Kingdom, America and Australia. I specialised in acute medical nursing, during this time I developed a passion for education in practice. I have worked in higher education since 1999 and I work for Keele University School of Nursing and Midwifery as their Placement Quality Lead and Safeguarding Lead Lecturer. I also work for the Nursing Midwifery Council on their Fitness to Practise Investigating Committee as a registrant panel member.
I am currently a PhD student at Keele University; my research is a qualitative study of registrants that have been qualified for 2 years or less who have received a final sanction by the Nursing Midwifery Council Fitness to Practise Conduct and Competence committee.
