This module has been introduced to respond to policy guidelines, which seek to address mental health skills and knowledge deficits, of clinicians working in adult care settings.  The module will focus on mental health assessment, intervention and communication skills development.

For the 15-weeks duration of the module, you will benefit from the support of a dedicated tutor.  You will complete a number of learning activities, on an individual basis and also collaboratively with fellow students. Your knowledge and understanding of learning gained in a classroom setting will be assessed via the production of a personal portfolio which will provide evidence of clinical application and skills development.  Included in your portfolio of evidence will be a 2000 word reflective paper based on your personal development during the module.  You will also be required to present a clinical case taken from your portfolio of evidence - this will be supported with a 1000 word short paper.

This exciting module will prepare you to be more responsive and holistic in relation to the needs of the people who use your services.

This module is available as an elective module within BSc (Hons) Clinical Nursing Practice, and as a stand alone module.
