Mental Health and Well-being is a 30 credit Level 3 module which aims to develop the knowledge and skills of practitioners in relation to the modern arena of mental health service delivery. The module will enhance the practitioner's skill base in relation to service user inclusion, health promotion and early intervention. The module has been developed in collaboration with Trust partners, in an effort to provide a bridging platform for any clinician who trained under the previous disease-based model of mental health. The module will take account of the Chief Nursing Officer's Review of Mental Health Nursing (2006) and the recommendations that it made for future nursing practice. Finally, the module will provide an excellent learning experience for those clinicians who would like to professionally 'update' and for those clinicians who would like to pursue a Degree programme of learning. This module also forms part of the Graduate Certificate (Mental Health).
This module is a core module for the BSc (Hons) Clinical Practice (Mental Health) Pathway.
This module may be undertaken as a stand alone elective module within the BSc (Hons) Clinical Practice award for other pathways.
This module is available as a free standing elective.
The aim of the module is to develop the practitioner's ability to critically analyze the evidence base surrounding Health and Social Care policy in order to enhance the mental health and well- being of service users. The main focus for development will centre around quality, inclusion and accessibility of services.
