Eu International Fellowship to Further Boost Astrophysics Research

Falk HerwigDr Falk Herwig and Dr Raphael Hirschi, from the Astrophysics Group within the Research Institute for the Environment, Physical Sciences and Applied Mathematics (iEPSAM), and Dr Takuma Suda from Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan, have been awarded a £80,000 Marie Curie international incoming fellowship grant that will allow Dr Suda to join the theory and simulation team at Keele for 18 months.

The researchers will collaborate on a project entitled "Observations and Simulations of the First Stars in the Universe" with an emphasis on large-scale computer simulations using the recent KHAOS high-performance cluster computer at iEPSAM .

Dr Herwig said: "To attract an experienced Japanese researcher to come to Keele and to have successes in this highly competitive EU wide funding scheme demonstrates that we are recognised for our internationally leading astrophysics research."
