EURO GPR Award For Best Paper

Dr Nigel Cassidy, of the Applied and Environmental Geophysics Group, School of Physical and Geographical Sciences and iEPSAM, has been awarded the EURO GPR award for the best paper at the recent 11th International Conference on Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR2006) held in Columbus, Ohio. Competing against over two hundred other international papers, this prestigious award recognises major developments in the practical application of GPR and Nigel's research paper, on the use of GPR signal analysis for the non-invasive evaluation of groundwater contamination by hydrocarbon pollutants, was considered as providing an novel method for contaminant characterisation and a significant advancement on current techniques.
