Donation Of Fitness Equipment

The University Leisure Centre has received the generous donation of fitness equipment, worth more than £20,000, from His Highness Sheik Mohammed, a student at Keele.

A special ceremony took place at the Leisure Centre when His Highness presented the equipment to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maggie Pearson. She said: "On behalf of the University I would like to thank His Highness for this kind gift, which will be much appreciated by all those who use the leisure facilities here."

The equipment comprised of two Bodyguard upright cycles, two Bodyguard recumbent cycles, two Bodyguard elliptical cross-trainers and two Bodyguard executive five-step machines.

Other guests at the ceremony included: Dr Reyadd Abdulla, from the U.A.E. Technical College in East Sussex; Mr Chris Burdon, Director of Academic Affairs; Mr Paul Butters, Keele University Students' Union; Mr Richard Artus, President of the Athletic Union, and Mr Graham Taylor, MD of Polaris Fitness Ltd..
