Top National Award

Dr. Graeme Jones, School of Chemistry and Physics, has won a top national award for his skills in increasing public awareness of science.

The Royal Society of Chemistry, Education Department, has awarded Dr. Jones the HE Teaching Award for the academic year 2001 - 2002.

To quote the adjudicators, the Award has been made: "For his work in promoting the Public Awareness of Science through his wide ranging programme of lectures and for his ability to enthuse and inspire others. An extremely innovative and creative teacher of chemistry, he enables audiences from a wide variety of backgrounds to gain an understanding of complex chemical problems using everyday phenomena".

As the award winner Dr. Jones will give five lecture-presentations during the academic year.
