Welcome to Computing at Keele

Computer Science is about applying computing, that is both hardware and software, in science and business or just society in general.

It is known as a dark art. For some computer programming sounds a bit boring but you can be very creative with it; very artistic.

The amount of computers we can have; labs; rooms to study in. I think that especially if you have a high interest in computer science Keele is the place to come for that.

We assume always that we are going to cover pretty much everything from scratch. But the main thing we are looking for is students that are enthusiastic about the subject and would like to learn.

If you feel a bit nervous asking the lecturers, the demonstrators are third-year students or PhD students, so it's more your mates are helping you out; that kind of thing. It's very friendly and informal.

Also, the great thing here is the lecturers are experts in their field.

And they have even published books that are available to us in the library.

To prospective employers it must look rather good that you have been taught by the guys that have invented the stuff.

The reason I chose Keele was that it allows me to study two courses instead of one, so with computer science I like the logical side of it but I can be more artistic in my music technology.

Students in general actually find that it is quite easy to move into careers from either the dual honours or single honours studies.

Keele has a science park and a business park. A lot of students go straight into these companies.

Students who study computer science are multidisciplinary and they find that they could indeed turn their hand to other aspects of employment.

I know a guy who did his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate here at Keele and know he works at Erigol and it's purely because he studied at Keele, that he got those links.

This programme is going to get me occupied at least until 2032 and I will be running for the Presidency!

Remember me when you are President!
