Hello, my name is Natalie. I am currently studying a post graduate course here at Keele and I am doing a Masters in Social Research Methods with a specialist in Sociology. This is my fourth year in Keele now, after having a three year break. I did my undergraduate studies here and when it came to coming back for post grad I thought I don’t want to go anywhere else apart from Keele, so here I am.
I just can’t stress enough how much of an awesome place Keele is to study because it’s just got – everybody is so friendly, you are just all in a big community in – because it’s a Campus University you are all together in one space, you know everybody on the Campus through another person; it’s just so friendly, there is so much to do, it’s got such a lovely scenic area, so if you get sick of your studies you can just go for a walk around Keele Woods, down by the lakes you know; there’s plenty of places around Campus where you can just go and have a coffee, even in the Library where you are supposed to be doing work it’s a social place to go because you see people all the time that you know and you can just all help each other out with your work and it’s just – everybody is just so friendly that you never feel alone because there is always other people around you.
The lecturers go out of their way to help you because they want you to succeed and the departments themselves, like my Department of Sociology they are so helpful that even a secretary will go out of her way to, you know, find out information for you. So you are never in a point where you don’t know what to do; there’s always somewhere you can go for help for anything. I mean, there’s Nightline as well; if you are having any issues you’ve got Nightline where you can ring up and talk to people about finance, you know, personal problems, like course problems. They are just there all the time if you wanted to be anonymous about it, that’s another place to go.
I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere else for my post graduate study because I came here as an undergrad and I was provided with such a good service and such a good experience; Keele has definitely provided us with the skills to go out into the big world and I mean the fact that at undergraduate level they offer dual undergraduate degrees, it provides you with the opportunity to study two different disciplines like I studied Psychology and then Sociology and they come from two totally different sides of the spectrum and Keele has definitely fully prepared me to be able to take that step outside. Keele has given us so many skills to take away from my undergraduate course and my post graduate course that I don’t doubt that I won’t be able to get a job elsewhere.
