MDS-30011: Dissertation in Media, Communications and Culture

To enable students to evaluate and apply theoretical, methodological and practical approaches to the study of media and culture.
To enable students to research, plan and write a substantial piece of work, locating their individual topic within the context of relevant debates in their discipline and the humanities more generally.

Dissertation Lectures: 3 hours
Consultation with supervisor: 7 hours

Description of Module Assessment

01: Dissertation weighted 100%

10,000 word dissertation
The topic of the dissertation will be agreed in consultation with the student's supervisor.

02: Dissertation Plan (must pass this element)

A dissertation plan of 1,000 words maximum
The dissertation plan will normally be due in by week 12 of the first semester. It should include a project outline and a provisional bibliography of proposed reading. The supervisor will offer feedback on the plan as part of the ongoing consultation process.
