Other level 3 projects within Human Biology

Description

Students work under supervision doing some data analysis. In addition, they research the subject by reading journals, reviews and textbooks, and then write it up as a report including their findings and conclusions. NE projects are rather like dissertations with a data-analysis component attached, and they are recommended for students who are mainly interested in scientific data and its analytical treatment.

Aims

To develop non-experimental research skills in Human Biology.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Use primary sources to research and critically evaluate the current research and to discuss these findings and reach appropriate conclusions will be achieved by assessments: 1
Critically evaluate relevant arguments, assumptions and concepts and analyse primary data to identify solutions to a research-based problem will be achieved by assessments: 1
Communicate their research work and the knowledge underpinning it in their written report will be achieved by assessments: 1

Study hours

Students will meet with their project supervisor every 2 weeks for one hour (total 10 hours) to discuss progress and appropriate non-experimental research techniques. Other aspects of the project (literature search, analysis, writing) is expected to take 140 hours over two semesters.
