Description

The module will explore relationships between the physical geographical environment and human creativity in both science and popular culture. It will examine the ways in which the physical landscape has been an inspiration to both artists and scientists and the contrasting representations of landscape in science and in cultural media such as literature, film and music. The module will allow students to explore the boundaries of the discipline of Geography: both internal (for example between scientific and aesthetic geographical writing and between physical and human geography) and external (for example where geography meets the creative arts). This will be a cross-disciplinary module that showcases Keele's innovative and engaging approach to the subject(s) of Geography. This will be a new type of module structure for Geography students, with the opportunity to combine lecture-based learning with a substantial piece of independent project work.
