Description

This module introduces students to the environmental responsibilities of businesses and investigates with students ways of improving companies&© environmental performances. This module is designed to provide students with a framework within which to consider employers&© environmental responsibilities, and to provide the practical skills and knowledge to direct enhanced environmental performance in the workplace.

Aims

This module aims:
  • to highlight to students the benefits to businesses to 'green' their operation and ways this can be acheived.
  • to provide introductory training to students in environmental auditory and Carbon reduction in businesses.
  • to improve students awareness of employment opportunities in the field of sustainability and explore their future employment prospects.
  • to provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to improve the environmental performance of their current and future employers.


Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the environmental responsibilities of business and the environmental impacts of different sectors and activities within business (e.g. energy, transport, waste) - achieved by assessments: 1,2,3,4
Demonstrate understanding of the processes by which businesses can audit, improve, and monitor environmental impacts within the workplace - achieved by assessments: 1,2,3,4
Research the environmental impacts and potential solutions of an area of a business' operations - achieved by assessments: 3, 4
Communicate professionally in oral and written format the conclusions and recommendations of research into the environmental impact of an area of a business' operations - achieved by assessments: 4
