Provides a theoretical and practical understanding of the problems involved in the development of web-based electronic commerce applications



Aims

To provide a theoretical and practical understanding of the problems involved in the development of web-based electronic commerce applications.

Intended Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

  • use scripting languages in server-side transaction-based applications;

  • understand the technological issues and their implications in web-based e-commerce applications;

  • understand business issues such as trusted third-parties and the validation of electronic documents;

  • critically evaluate technologies for e-commerce applications;

  • design and implement web-based e-commerce solutions;

  • develop and critically evaluate a business strategy for the migration of business activities to a web-based solution.
