Aims

To convey a critical appreciation of the principles and techniques of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems, with emphasis on neural networks and evolutionary algorithms.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the main ideas of artificial intelligence and intelligent systems and critically evaluate arguments and assumptions relating to them.
Demonstrate a systematic understanding of parallel distributed (Neural Network) techniques and deploy established techniques of analysis and enquiry to review, consolidate, extend and apply that knowledge and understanding to pattern recognition tasks.
Demonstrate a systematic understanding of evolutionary algorithms and deploy established techniques of analysis and enquiry to review, consolidate, extend and apply that knowledge and understanding to optimization tasks.
