Employment Health Screening
New staff working in areas where initial and on-going health surveillance and screening is necessary will be required to complete a confidential employment health screening questionnaire. All appointments in these areas are subject to health assessment. Schools/Departments must ensure that Human Resources (HR) are made aware that the post is subject to health assessment by completion of Section G on the Post Authorisation Form (PAF)The questionnaire must be returned by the applicant direct to the OHNA and not to HR or to the school/department where employment is offered. The OHNA will then screen the questionnaire and will:
- Where necessary arrange a medical examination with the OHNA or OHP.
- Inform the HR Link Administrator of the individual's medical clearance (or otherwise). Note: no medical details will be given to HR.
- Inform HR and School/Dept of any possible adjustments or support that may be advised.
Where possible adjustments are given it will be the responsibility of HR and School/Department to assess the practicalities and reasonableness of the implementation of any adjustments or support. Where the individual has been given medical clearance HR will receive notification of medical clearance directly from the OHNA. On receipt of this information HR will inform the Head of School/Department. Any ongoing health surveillance requirements will also be notified at that time. It will then be the responsibility of the Head of School/Department to ensure that these ongoing medical checks (or whatever is prescribed by the OHNA under medical or health surveillance regulations) occur.
