July 1st 2011 was an exciting point of departure for eight second year

Keele University Media and Film Studies students: Emma Perrin, Holly

Fernyhough, Lewis Rymond, Chelsea Gledhill, Ibiyemi Onasanya, Stewart

Young, Kate Fortune and Fiona (Jufangyue Xie), who travelled to one of our

partner institutions - Dongguk University - in Seoul, South Korea to take

part in a four week “Korean Cinema" programme of study. Academic

highlights included studying and making their own Korean films, Holly’s

interview for the British Council, and the group's attendance at a special

lecture by award-winning (both at Cannes and the Berlin Film Festival)

Korean film director Park Chan-kyong. The group also took part in various

cultural excursions to the DMZ, a Buddhist Temple, and Seodaemun

Prison History Hall. Described as “an amazing experience” by all, it seems

that South Korea has got them hooked. Looking at these pictures, who

could blame them!
