Work Experience
Work experience (also known as internships or placements) is important for a number of reasons:
- It helps you to try out career areas to work out what would suit you
- It shows future recruiters that you are motivated and informed in your career choices
- It develops work based skills to complement those you develop on your degree
Work experience can take many different forms; some of which are advertised and others for which you need to make speculative enquiries.
For advice on the experience that might help you and for vacancies Careers and Employability
You can also use the Drop-In facility to see an adviser and talk through your requirements and the application process.
Also look at the Students’ Union Job Shop and keep an eye out for any opportunities promoted by your academic school or integrated into modules.
In addition you might want to look at Voluntary Work as this is often another valuable way to gain insights and experience.
