Volunteering - Keele University

Volunteering

Your degree provides an excellent foundation of knowledge and skills but it cannot give you hands on experience to develop the depth and range of all the skills employers require. Many socially orientated careers such as social work or charity fundraising will expect voluntary experience to evidence your real interest in their field and to confirm that you have thought through a career in this area, Equally, many commercial employers are impressed by voluntary work as it evidences high levels of commitment andthe desire to contribute to the community. You can access volunteering opportunities made available to you through your degree, via Keele Students’ Union or in the community.

The VE Project in the Students’ Union will:

  • Help to match you to suitable placement opportunities
  • Provide you with orientation & Induction
  • Offer ongoing support & training
  • Give you the opportunity to gain one of a range of volunteering awards

The VE Project also runs a Volunteering elective giving you the chance to integrate volunteering onto your degree.

An annual Volunteer Fair also takes place giving you the opportunity to speak to potential placement providers.
