Staff new to Keele
Welcome to Keele! We hope that your time here will exceed your expectations and we look forward to helping you develop skills and abilities relevant to your role at the University.
The Learning and Professional Development Centre is the central staff development unit in the University. We provide help, assistance and encouragement to all staff along their path towards continuous professional development. We act as a development resource as well as providing a very wide range of central training courses and programmes. Depending on your role, some of the events we run are mandatory., The Centre also supports Faculties and Directorates in providing specific development work on a consultancy basis.
As part of your welcome to the University, you will be invited to participate in the Keele Knowledge Programme. The programme begins with a half day Welcome Session where senior members of the University with give you a broad introduction to Keele University. These sessions run all year and delivery dates are published on the on-line booking system. They provide a University-wide context to the induction that will be given by your Faculty or Directorate. The welcome session gives a general understanding of health, safety and personal support at Keele, however your Faculty and/or Directorate induction will cover the specific health and safety arrangements appropriate to your place of work. An Induction Checklist is provided as a basis for your workplace induction. Following this introduction, you will also be expected to attend at least two open sessions within the first eighteen months of your employment with Keele. These workshops and briefings cover a wide range of topics relevant to the priorities and activities of the University. See the full list of programmes offered here.
We advertise our events weekly via email in the Staff Development Digest and forthcoming events are available to browse on the online booking system. These webpages provide an overview of our work and they are updated when new developments, projects or services are available.
