Time Management
Length of programme: 3 hours
About the workshop:
Time is like any other resource except it can't be stored, it can't be recycled, and if we don't take control how we use it, it will still get to be used in someway. The only time you can manage is the time that is under your control. So being more effective requires the development of good habits. Also, our use of time effects how others can use their time. Therefore, time needs to be managed as a team issue.
During this session you will explore the span of control you have over your time at work. You will be introduced to a number of time management techniques ("good habits") and invited to select which would be most appropriate in maximising the effective use of time within your control. The session will also deal with the use of priority zone maps and a practical process for delegation, or allocation, of activities to be undertaken.
Finally, you will consider a team-based approach to the effective use of time and decide on action points for your return to the workplace.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the workshop you will:
- Understanding the importance of 'span control'.
- Be able to develop appropriate 'habits' for effective time management.
- Have a simple system for prioritising and delegation.
