Length of programme: 3 hours

About the workshop

Continuous professional development is a requirement for all posts within the University. For many professions it is a particular requirement for professional membership of the institute or association. In this workshop you will explore how coaching can enhance your professional and personal development. It focuses on means by which you can take more ownership of your performance and development through the help of a coach. It gives a clear explanation of the coaching process and highlights how you can become the driver of your future development in partnership with your coach.

Through understanding your own learning styles, the workshop will help you to create a more focused development plan. This workshop targets staff interested in being coached. Staff interested in becoming a coach, or developing coaching skills might consider the alternative programmes Everyday Coaching and/or ILM Level 3 Workplace Coaching.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the workshop you will:

  • Understand Keele’s strategy for supporting professional and personal development.
  • Understand how coaching can support your professional development.
  • Recognise how the coaching approach underpins Keele's performance review system.
  • Have observed a short coaching session.
  • Recognise your own learning style.
  • Understand how a personal development plan can be created from being coached.

Participants:

Open to all members of staff interested in professional development and the role coaching can play in enhancing their development.
