Preparing for the Viva
Length of Programme: 3 hours
About the Workshop:
Participants will be taken through the mechanics, underlying expectations and outcomes of the viva process in the context of the University's regulations. The seminar includes a 22 minute video of a simulated viva and the opportunity for participants to work in small groups and participate in a mock viva. The presenter will share his experiences of examining more than 30 PhD and MPhil vivas in the UK and abroad to highlight the pitfalls and opportunities presented by the viva process and to prepare student participants for their own thesis examination.
This half day course is suitable for research students towards the end of their research degrees.
