Preparing for Conferences
Length of programme: 2.5 hours
Learning Objectives:
The aim of the workshop is to equip participants with the necessary skills to make the most effective use of conference attendance. Topics to be covered include selecting an appropriate conference, preparing an effective abstract, selecting an appropriate presentation mode, chairing sessions, preparing posters and talks, being aware of cultural differences, practical matters and follow up. There will be a particular emphasis on how to use such opportunities for effective networking.
Participants:
Research staff near the start of their career who have no or little experience of attending conferences.
