About the workshop

This workshop will explore some of the ways in which an academic career may be developed, including applications for lecturing positions.

Topics covered will include:

The nature of an academic position, including the balance between research, teaching and experience.
Submitting proposals
Authoring research papers
Undertaking teaching and administrative tasks
Supervising research and undergraduate student projects
Applying for academic positions, including sources of jobs, preparing applications, making a presentation as part of an interview, dealing with offers.

Participants:

Research staff who are seeking a career in academia.
