Managing Sickness Absence
Length of programme: 3 hours
About the Workshop:
The University aims to ensure that staff who are absent from work due to ill health or injury are treated fairly and sympathetically and are provided with support towards a full recovery using consistent, fair and effective procedures to monitor and manage sickness absence. The purpose of this session is to develop your skills to enable you to confidently and effectively manage sickness absence.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the workshop you will:
- Understand the reasons why it is important to manage sickness absence.
- Understand the different types of sickness absence and how to manage each one appropriately.
- Be able to conduct related meetings effectively.
- Be aware of an employer's responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act.
Participants:
Anyone undertaking line management responsibility.
