Developing Teams

Length of Programme: 3 hours

About this workshop:

This workshop focuses on giving participants a clear understanding of the process by which teams develop and providing tips and hints on how to help teams become more motivated. Using Belbin's work on team roles participants will be helped to understand the strengths they bring to their team and how an understanding of the team strengths of others helps the team to develop into a more effective unit. The workshop is participative and involves a number of practical activities to generate useful learning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand and recognise the key stages of team development.
  • Have discovered the general principles of motivating teams.
  • Have recognised the requirements for building a team culture which promotes motivation.
  • Be able to identify the personal team roles common within effective teams.
  • Have identified your own strong team roles.
  • Have discovered what helps a team to achieve.

Participants:

  • Staff who want to develop their understanding of how teams can be helped to become more effective.
  • Staff who may have a managerial or leadership responsibility for developing their team.
  • Staff who want to explore ways of becoming more motivated and/or would like to help others feel more motivated in the work they undertake.
