Completing the Thesis and the PhD
Length of Programme: 3 hours
About the Workshop:
This half day course for research students in the final years of study provides support and effective approaches that will help you complete your thesis on time and with confidence.
It includes information on:
- the nature of a thesis
- what the thesis needs to show examiners
- options for the structure of a thesis and the Keele regulations.
It will also provide ideas and approaches to support your writing, for example:
- how to get started and overcome writers block
- how to decide when enough is enough
- how to develop an argument
- when and how to check content and whether it is ethical to use assistance from proofreaders or sub-editors.
Additionally the course will look at copyright and publications arising from the thesis - for example, monographs and books or book chapters, journal articles and conference presentations.
