Buddying Scheme

The aim of the Buddying Scheme is for Chinese students to meet with British/Continental European students, make friends and learn from each other about culture, language etc. beyond the classroom environment.

The Chinese Buddying Scheme is a programme that is being piloted within the English Language Unit this year.  It is intended to provide an opportunity for students who are taking Mandarin modules  to meet Chinese students who are taking English Language modules. The intention is for students to meet and practise their language skills, learn about different cultures and make new friends.

The scheme promotes bilingual language, increases cultural diversity awareness and understanding, friendship building and participation in new experiences, improving confidence in using a different language other than your own, developing key skills for the future and enhancing the student experience.

Additionally, the buddying scheme works in groups and on a 1-1 basis and you can also use it towards volunteering hours.
