Keele Ecologists Attend Official Opening Of The Roaches
Keele faculty Dr Sarah Taylor and Dr Peter Thomas were present an opening ceremony for the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust's lease on The Roaches.
BBC Springwatch presenter, Simon King, cut the ribbon at the ceremony, which marked the start of a 125-year lease to the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust (SWT). The Roaches is a magnificent 975-acre landscape on the edge of the Peak District National Park: amazing in terms of its wildlife value and also its geological importance.
The event was attended by ecologists Dr Sarah Taylor and Dr Peter Thomas: Peter has been a SWT trustee for 27 years, while Sarah represented GeoConservation Staffordshire in her capacity as education officer. The Wildlife Trust had consulted with GeoConservation Staffordshire on their Roaches bid, and there are plans to establish a geotrail on the Roaches.
