Life Sciences staff helped to deliver a ‘Cutting Edge Science’ workshop for school teachers at the Science Learning Centre on Keele Campus.

The workshop, ‘Cutting Edge Science: Engaging and Motivating Students’, was held on March 2nd at the West Midlands Science Learning Centre.  Attendees participated in a series of 1-hour workshops delivered by Keele faculty on topics from astrophysics to fracking.  Life Scientists Dr Peter Thomas and Dr Catherine Merrick delivered sessions on Keele’s arboretum and on malaria research, respectively.

The workshop was designed to help teachers to stay up to date with their understanding of current science by providing the opportunity to interact with researchers and access research data.  This can provide contemporary contexts for learning science and can thus be a source of novel and inspiring lesson materials.  Follow this link for more information about the West Midlands Science Learning Centre hosted at Keele.
