PhD student Stuart Jenkins wins British Neuroscience Association competition
Stuart Jenkins, a final year PhD student in Dr Divya Chari's laboratory, won a British Neuroscience Association (BNA) abstract competition and was invited to give an oral presentation at the Bioengineering and Neuronal Remodelling meeting held in Manchester this week.
Stuart's was the only abstract chosen for presentation, alongside nine invited national and international speakers, who discussed a range of issues related to regeneration in the nervous system. He presented his recent work on the application of magnetic nanoparticles to strategies for the transplantation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs). This included the use of a novel 'multimodal' particle that Stuart has tested in collaboration with materials chemist Professor Matthew Rosseinsky at the University of Liverpool.
