New Head of School, Professor Dave Hoole
Professor Dave Hoole has been appointed as the new Head of the School of Life Sciences. He will take over from the present Head, Dr Anne Loweth, in July 2013.
Professor Hoole has been at Keele since 1979, when he joined the parasitology research group as a post-doctoral researcher after completing his PhD at the University of Sunderland. He was appointed to a lectureship in 1986 and is now Professor of Fish Diseases.
Professor Hoole has an extensive research profile in the area of fish diseases and has published widely in this area. He is currently the co-ordinator of a Marie Curie Training Network ("NEMO") which incorporates nine European research institutes including three industrial partners. He also established “Keele Water” in 1991 - an environmental consultancy specialising in freshwater and fisheries. He is a member of the British Society for Parasitology, the European Association of Fish Pathologists and the Fisheries Society of the British Isles.
