Emeritus title for Professor Richard Ward
Professor Richard Ward has been granted the title of Emeritus Professor of Medical Entomology.
Richard Ward joined Keele in 1994 after academic positions at the Wellcome Trust Parasitology Research Unit in Brazil and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. His distinguished career has focused on sand flies, which transmit the parasites responsible for leishmaniasis
. This disease affects an estimated 1.5-2.0 million people annually and causes at least 75,000 deaths each year.
