International Travel Grant for Dr David Furness

Dr David Furness, Reader in Life Sciences, has been awarded £700 by the Physiological Society to attend the Midwinter Meeting of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology.  The meeting will be held in San Diego in February 2012.

Dr Furness, who studies auditory neuroscience, will be will be presenting a poster entitled 'Differences Between Cochlear Fibrocyte Culture Cells from CD/1 Mice Grown on Different Collagen Substrates' by D.N. Furness, A. Sheikh, J. Randle and S. Mahendrasingam.

This work was done with the help of a second year Neuroscience student on an summer studentship from the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (James Randle), and an MSc student studying Biomedical Blood Science (Ahmad Sheikh).
